I think it's simply about not losing people (even though they're gone because things change and people you love need to leave) by cherishing their memories, even though one suffers from it.
Or, put differently, the concept of nothing is lost and still goes on forever because it has took place in the past and somehow, it still continues to exist thanks to you memory, blabla.
I actually identify a lot to this song, the feeling of loss, the importance of dreams, memories, the fact that we need so much to hold on to them...oh well, life's hard.
