Well I gave them so here's my idea:
A) He lost his girl through breakup or maybe death or he's breaking up with her.
B) He's trying to conquer an addiction, most likely to alcohol. Thus "I look at myself in the mirror and I don't like wine I say.
I mostly think that it's (B) because he wants to get over something, thus rip or turn the page of the book (his life).
