It seems to me that the whole song is describing "vomit". If the proverbs that he is quoting from is true, and a dog returns to his vomit, isn't there a sense in which the dog enjoys his vomit? In the same way, a human will return to his "vomit" not because he likes driving around all night looking for love (the first verse), but because he feels justified and selfless in admitting that he needs love ("Come into my heart"). But, that is the trap that keeps him going back for it. I think this song is showing a messed up view on love.
'Cause there's something that I get for myself
And there's something that you give to me
Well, I got one without the other
Well, it's not enough to be - I need your love
Seriously, this whole entire verse is about himself! Love isn't just about seeing how well off you are by yourself and then taking the rest from somebody else; it's about a mutual exchange between two persons who care for one another. To me, the purpose of this song is to show how humans go back to their "vomit", not because we are messed up and we like disgusting things, but because there are little bits of it that are good enough to keep us coming back for more.
