The song is about being unhappy with a repetitious life; the person is in a rut and wishes to feel something...anything. "Confused biology" may simply mean that s/he's in a state of confusion...her/his life is a mess at the moment. By throwing punches until he gets a hit, he's desperate and will do just about anything to get noticed. In the end, he's willing to settle... to keep his thoughts (for someone else perhaps...or perhaps not) in his head. They are safer there. Again, don't listen to me. I am horrible when it comes to analyzing a song. I'm a redneck girl who loves a song if it has a fast beat:)
