i love love love this song so much. my interpretation is that it voices the struggles a new or doubting Christian may face in the acceptance of Jesus, while also showing that they really DO want to have a close relationship with Christ and live for Him.
I think the final verse is so good-- "no more camping on the porch of indecision/no more sleeping under stars of apathy"-- it represents how living with faith in the Lord reaffirms one's purpose in life, and gives a person direction and something to live for. i take the final two lines as saying that instead of just wanting and hoping for purpose-driven life, the speaker is going to find the meaning in God (accepting any difficulties that may come with such a decision).
