My favourite song in the album, you can really feel amy lee's emotion, the lyrics are great I think she is talking to herself, she had a belief maybe better things would come, things she wished for but those things are so distant, almost human it's like she doesn't deserve for her dreams to happen like everyone else "as if i was human", she lived in denial, denying this hopelessness she feels.. I think the promises she made and broke was for herself, she didn't became better as she wished to be. so she has nothing left, feeling the cruelty of the world, everyone was falling, she is lost in paradise : even though everyone sees her life as a paradise she is lost in it .. the past still exist and she wants to feel like she belong to this world, she can't, she remain so scared like so many of us.
One day we won't feel this pain anymore, when we will runaway to a better place, and the shadows of the past will be taken away so she can let it all go and be free ..
