Can't believe I'm the first comment! Amazing song!!
Anyway, I think this song is telling the story of a friend or loved one of the narrator who is in a coma and the prognosis looks bleak. The narrator is desperately trying to get a response from her (I'm going to say 'her' because I think the person in a coma is the narrator's lover) and wonders if she can see or hear or feel him there with her all the time. When the doctors tell him that she is likely to die from her injuries, the narrator seems to give up hope but professes that no matter what, he will still love her. It seems like he stops visiting her when he is told she will probably die but promises that he will wait for her to be with her in the afterlife "far in the future".
Alternatively, he is told that she will stay in this state and they don't currently have the technology to 'fix' her, so he is telling her he will stay loyal and wait for her until they can 'fix' her "far in the future".
Interpret it how you like but that's the idea I got from it :)
