I got Lost Dogs for Christmas last year from my parents. I'd been a Pearl Jam fanatic for a while but it was the first physical PJ album I ever owned. Last fall and winter I was, for some reason, in and out of depression... school, friends, family, being cooped up in the house...
it was also around this time that I discovered a lot of Pearl Jam, as well as Alice in Chains and Soundgarden and Nirvana. I drowned my troubles in music. This song makes me think of last fall and winter and how I got through it thanks to my now favorite bands, and how much the world changes as we grow. How magic Christmas seems when I was a kid (I'm gonna be 16 this winter) and how gloomy it can be now. Thank to Pearl Jam, I was able to cope with trading magic for fact, no trade backs (I'm open...) and be okay with it.
And when times get tough, to quote another PJ song, always remember... no matter how cold the winter, there's a spring time ahead :D
