The first time I heard this song it gave me goosebumps - it's so beautiful!
To me this song feels like it's written from a person who may be dying to the person they love. "One by one, we watched them fall..." - slowly watching other sufferers perhaps of a cancer all slipping into the 'great beyond'. And their partner has been at their side through all the hard times but the inevitable is approaching and he's telling them it is time for him to go to the 'great beyond' too.
