I understand this song as a strong relationship between two people, probably companions, told by one persons perspective. The person telling the story is struggling with the relationship because of their own personal struggles, thus the we would mean all of the ideas floating around in that persons mind. The map refers to all of the past relationships that have brought this person to know themselves better. The verse "can't let go of it" again refers to the persons struggles. The verse that talks about being drunk on chemicals is talking about all of the different chemicals of the brain that are released by having good feelings with the other companion.
