I believe this song is referring to a relationship. The singer's partner was perhaps beaten as a child by their parents in "that brutal youth" or assaulted in any way by family or maybe even that they were abused by past partners, since it seems that their past is "entombed in a box thats cached 'cross the room." The singer, by telling their partner they "don't have to pretend to be an orphan anymore," theyre saying that they dont have to pretend that what happened in their childhood has to remain a secret from the singer. When theyre saying "Never not ever again!" the singers partner wont ever be beaten by anyone ever again. The singer just wants to let their partner know that they are no longer alone with their scars and pain.

My problem with your interpretation is that the words "brutally beaten" are very unlikely about physical abuse. It's all about feeling at home at a time, in a place, with a person/people. "Brutally beaten" more then likely is referring to the idea of being shoved around, voiceless, minor, "an orphan". It's about taking away that sense of being displaced, and instead embracing something/someone(s) in safety.

It can either be about the band finding family again & safety in each other, feeling incomplete otherwise or finding family within a typical family structure...
