Lyric discussion by MaryMaryQuiteContrary

A sexual player who actually feels guilt...he would not scrub himself off if he did not. He's a fake...he aspires to be what she wants to see. He has created this vacuum ('hole') in which he hides; what people see is not who he knows he is. He steps up to the plate to be the man he feels she wants...a sexual being. He's merely a man who uses sex to get what he wants (ie. love, etc) as he hides behind a mask. Fascinating lyrics.

WTF COWARD? I was commenting on a song...dissecting it to the best of my ability. If you see yourself in the lyrics than that's your problem. I was merely doing my best to analyze the lyrics. I could be right. I could be wrong. But I surely do not know what you're talking about !

Interesting, Idnite. I enjoyed reading your take on it. On a personal note, I don't believe happy people "play" for it invovles playing with the emotions of others.

Isn't it obvious. A player wants to score. It's all part of a game whether it be in football or in bed. He (or she) is not honest with whichever partner he's with at the time. He is hiding his true feelings when he uses her/him for either sex or as someone to fill a painful emotional void (probably both actually). The song is not about love. And it's really not about sex. It's about a need to feel loved, and temporary love (ie. sex) is better than nothing for him/her. It's safer and emotionally easier. Why risk loving someone...
