Self-Knowledge. Verse one is about getting too far ahead of ourselves, coming to the conclusion that it's hard to trust in people who constantly betray us. At times, it's best to trust in no one but ourselves. Verse two I visualize someone who, despite the great time they're having in an empirical sense, still feel a sense of distance from others internally. Verse three deals with the idea of fame/popularity, and how it's all meaningless if you have to sell your soul to achieve it. Also, how you're drawn into playing a certain character that isn't you and how it wears you out. It's lonely at top, as they say. Verse four deals with the same issue, money doesn't guarentee us automatic happiness/love, and that many times, the best things in life are free, so to speak. It's the little things that matter(love, trust, truth, compassion, empathy,e tc.), life can be no another way other than that which it is - one day at a a time. Verse Five deals with how we'll never find happiness trying to appease/impress others. We can't be too happy without our own approval - it's impossible to love others unless we love ourselves first. The longest journey is inward; Self-Knowledge. The last lines in verse five is biblical in thought: "You show know the truth and the truth shall set you free" - Jesus
