The lyrics are definitely gibberish- just barely there words and sounds mumbled to add texture and take you to a different dimension. Its amazing how Liz makes lyrics into another type of sound, its like it adds another layer to the music besides the instrumentation and despite the lack of concrete words with a decided meaning. Liz truly uses her voice as an instrument.
This song makes me feel two things: Resignation to the inevitable. And indifference in the face of death. Like a society is dying off, but they aren't afraid, instead they are accepting, ready even. And they sing their magical, otherworldly swan song as they march straight towards destruction. Somehow its not completely depressing though.. its almost admirable instead. Like maybe death will bring them to a better place. That's what I see when I sit back, listen, and close my eyes.
Other thoughts? I'd love to hear from some people. :)
