I think this song is about going through a hard time, like maybe getting fired from a good job or something? but its also about the main guy being stubborn (I can get by myself) He's saying deal me a crippling blow, like saying throw all that you got at me, I can take it, and I don't need anyone to help me.

I'm a bit confused in this bit but what I can guess is his job just got given to a guy that is very lazy but everyone thinks he is a great guy (a real winner) and they think that he will make all the doubters think that he is great too

I actually believe that the word is online in this bit and I can contibute that to my interpritation aswell.
