This is an awesome piece. So much going on musically and vocally.
For me, the message seems to be about living in a fantasy world, oblivious to how shallow and cheap your life has become, and begging the recipient of the mesage to show them how to overcome the way they're living. He's "got it all" in his own mind, but realizes he'll be looking at his life with regret after the "revolution" of better living.
The overall yearning for love and redemption gives me the shakes every time I hear this.
Also, the music video (movie?) is fantastic in its disturbing surrealness.
