Obviously he broke up with her, and she still loves him,"In sleep, is the only place I get see him, get to love him." Only in her dreams will she be able to love him still, but he's not coming back, so hopefully she gets to see him in her dreams.
I agree, that her man left her but I dont see that it was for sure a "break up," maybe he died, maybe he got sent over seas, maybe he's in jail. But whatever the resaon he is out of her life and she is torn up about it.
