In 1966-67 it was, like the Haight in SF and the Village and East Village in NY, a magnet for people, including often young, impressionable girls, who were looking for an alternative lifestyle.

@jimbo1955 John Phillips was known to put messages in his songs (I saw her again last night) to tell Denny to stop the affair with Michelle. At the in the hippie scene there was known to be a lot of abuse of runaways that were often 12 years old. I think John was warning someone in the canyon to stop it by making it public
