It's obvious that it's about a plane crash. The "black box" is a device that collects information on planes and can usually explain why crashes occur (though not this time), and the line "did we land or were we shot down?" is pretty transparent.
The main line that make me think there's more to the song is the very first one: "Our first and last remaining" - what could that mean? And I wonder what the narrator and the target of the song are arguing about...
