In this song he is beating the crap out his fears which have been controlling him. The past left him scarred and he has always held on to it and he keeps worrying about the future which makes him unable to live in the present. He is learning to live in the present and have a more positive outlook on life as in the past he has always seen the dark side of things instead of the bright side.
