I think the lyrics are really "changes on demand" even thugh all the lyrics I've read have been "changes our demand." Makes a lot mer sense the first way.
I love, love, love this song. Why? Because of these AWESOME lines:

It's saying that though this couple is in ove, it's not like they can't live without each other. Theirs is a flexible kind of love.
