All this arguing about whether she wronged him or he wronged her is unnecessary, because it could easily go both ways. In a relationship neither partner is ever absolutely perfect.

They are/were in love with each other, but because of various logistical problems (she doesn't apologize when she's wrong about stuff, he's not enough of a man to "make it" regardless of what he attempts to do, whether it's a good thing or a bad thing, like a wise man or a thief.) stupid little logistical things, which cause them to fight so much that they're now at the point of breaking up, and it kills him because he still loves her but he just doesn't know how to make it work.
Of course this is all from his point of view, so it's not necessarily 100% accurate either. HE THINKS that she never apologizes, and he thinks that he wouldn't be able to cut it as a poor man stealin. That may or may not be true in objective terms, but it's the guy's reality, and he's the narrator.
