I think the song itself is about a girl just finding out her man is a bad person (they're talking about you boy, but you're still the same) and he himself is trying to explain (I'm gonna tell you something you don't want to hear). But she's still wrestling her feelings about him (There's something inside you, It's hard to explain). That's my interpretation of it because I had a similar experience...
