I could be way off here, but I think the song is about growing up. Or looking back and realizing that you are an adult now. The lines "you dont have to pretend to be an orphan anymore" just seem to make me think of how as a teenager we always have battles with our parents and try to find an identity that doesent include them. i think this song is the band or lyric writings coming to terms with who they are as an adult and realizing that they dont have to fight against something such as the ideals of their parents anymore.
