This song is about the Dia watching someone she loved with brain cancer dying.

"And I won't go Till you're asleep." She won't go until the her friend passes away.

"You open your mouth, like an asthma attack, you repeat, "If all that you take from this is courage, then I've no regrets."" Her friend in a labored manner tells her, "If all that you take from this is courage, then I've no regrets."

"I wanted to kiss you goodnight. No longer can pretend, it won't cave in and will be alright. I wanted to save this last light. With dawn comes certainty of what we'll be, for now hold me lightly." She realizes that her friend will not live through the night and can't be optimistic about it anymore and knows that her friends only has probably till morning to live at most.

"I look to the floor. Your hair like cut grass. Your vomit it forms A gold chain round your neck. I won't wake you up No need for last words. These last idle hours More than I deserve." She looks at her friends and describes how her fair is cut short and how she has vomit around her neck. She doesn't bother waking her up but is going to spend the last remaining hours with her.
