Based on the lyrics, I believe that this song is obviously about a girl, and how now that he is gone, she misses him.
Back when they were together, they always said they would do something or whatever as most couples do, and she or they never kept good on that promise.
so he is saying, "And I know someday, you'll wish you kept one for me" because he knew she would miss him, and they have nothing to go back on, or any reason to see each other again.
