At first, it sounds like an epic song, as if we're in the midst of a medieval battlefield, but as lot of songs of the album drug-related double-entendre come to mind as well: "blood of another" as in a shared syringe, "the wasting pain one trip you cannot buy", etc. ("Death is not selective...", maybe the fear of HIV infection, and/or OD...)
Actually, now that Im think of it, the members of PL may have experimented with drugs, after the success of "Draconian Time" (or even before?), which could in turn explain their desire to experiment with electro-rock/dark-pop afterwards!
