I see a lot of Ian Curtis in Geoff Rickly. Other than how much he's referenced Ian and Joy Division. He's a very intense, emotional singer with a very funny sense of humor that kind've covers that part of his personality up. He inspires intense devotion among fans.(in the early days he was like a therapist to a thousand 'scene kids' all over the country) He's in a highly influential band, but they're not that commercially successful. He's had health issues (stomach problems, epilepsy) He fell in love with a foreign woman (though Geoff wasn't already married) I just hope...

Trading his waking, breathing life to become a mythical icon. He has so much talent and he's so eloquent, it's a shame they aren't making the kind of money that bands that they influenced heavily (and even helped bring to prominence in some cases, MCR, anyone?) are. I wish him all the best in his personal and professional life.

This made me think of Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart.
Holy Cross has got a headstone all picked out for me And my only job is to walk around until I fall down at it's feet.
Simply brilliant. Your fate is sealed, and there's nothing you can do about it.
