Cover art for 100 Dollars lyrics by Manchester Orchestra

As a couple people have already mentioned, Andy Hull says, "This song is about this time, just because I think it's funny enough, the first time I lost my sh** in front of my wife was when I lost $100. My dad gave me a hundred dollar bill in the kitchen of my parents' house and by the time that I had made it to the car outside I had lost this hundred dollar bill and it was one of those things were like you freak out but it's in no way about the one hundred dollar bill at all. So this song is about that."

I'm curious, though, does anyone know what the lyrics "I offer you a small dog in the kitchen" refer to? My fiance and I have been trying to figure it out. A hotdog? A chihuahua? How would that make someone feel at home? Anyone have any ideas?
