I'd say it's about wanting to believe something is there when it's not, about getting dumped by a hot chick who was not really into you, and the guy tries and screams like the TV would to keep her attention, but she uses technology to put him off. Didn't like several nuances of the lyrics above, so thought I'd post my own:
