K, so, wether the lyrics are correct or not, I just wanted to give my point of view on this one;

Well, the guy's kind of crazy, we've seen this fictional downhill character since their first record. So, when his talking about barred windows, he might mean a mental institution. Then he talks about "Taking you for granted, you were holding the (Probably "rails" instead of "Rains"). Now, what I'm going for here, is; I think he's talking to the voices in his head.

If we agree on the fact that he's inside of a mental institution, when he goes to the chorus saying "I can here you louder than ever" and "I can't see you but we're stil together"; He's telling us the medication, electroshocks or whathaveyou, took away the visions of imaginary people, just not the voices, which he still hears. Louder than ever.

What is the character that you mentioned? I've been listening to the other songs and I'm interested in the travels that he has taken in his life (fictional, mind you).
