I imagine two friends sitting by the pool late at night, drinking and slipping into intoxication. The narrator has trouble sleeping at night do to the worries of everyday life- in my perspective as a college student, I imagine him worrying about his future, his job, rent and utility bills. As they keep drinking, the narrator starts feeling better about life and his future as he says "chin up, cheer up." The "love" of an another kind refers to his realization and understanding- a personal epiphany and feeling that his friend will never know.
