We feel trapped/abandoned on this "circling place" the Earth, Human society, daily routines. Our desperation to escape the stifling mundanity of our lives is what compels us to leave what is familiar and travel. Travel provides no relief from these feelings of desperation and hopelessness as people are fundamentally the same wherever you go. I think the lines "There's no good night
It's not a good night" is a reference to Dylan Thomas' poem Do not go gentle into that good night. There is no afterlife, this life here on Earth is all there is for us. There is no escape from this material existence.
