[[This song, to me, is about a relationship that's falling apart, or has fell apart and he still loves her. It sounds like other people broke them apart: "they've got me on the outside looking in" (as in outside the relationship). He is basically just trying to get her to see that he's always been there for her and that he always will be. He's telling her that even though he makes mistakes, or stumbles, he'll always love her and always catch her when she falls ("with the weight of the world on my shoulders, they just want to see me fall"; I'm inferring that he slipped up, or else why would he write the song?). Basically, over all, I think that people caused a rift between them, because of rumours or something, and he slipped up, but he will always love her, and he just wishes that she'd believe him over them, because "they" are obviously fickle and liars, and he's always been there for her, unlike them. ]]

@sonnetsforthesongless: I always thought the same... and maybe people have convinced this girl that she should see what else is out there, "Have faith in me, cause there are things that I've seen I don't believe. So cling to what you know, and never let go. You should know things aren't always what they seem." He is starting the song by telling her to belive in him and to stay with him because other people are just going to lie and hurt her but she knows she can trust in him and the rest of the song is basically proving that to her.
