Non-Stop Dancing Lyrics

"While it is true that teenagers the world over share the common trait of being totally self-absorbed, the 18 year old Paul Weller was less enthralled with himself, than by the very state of youth itself. Life was filled with so many possibilities that the world wasn't just his oyster, but the oyster of all teenagers, there to be gulped down with relish.

So has it ever been, and that gusto to experience everything life has to offer was just as overwhelming in the northern England of the 60s, as it was in Woking in 1977. "Non-Stop Dancing" is ostensibly about the dizzying delight of all- night partying, but is really a tribute to the Northern Soul parties of yesteryear, and long hot nights spent at Wigan Casino and the Twisted Wheel.

The title is apt, for the song deliriously careens across a slew of long-gone genres, a wild weaving of R&B, Motown, and mod, a party piece for all occasions, whether one was “in the city,” or far from the madding metropolis."
