I have a slightly different interpretation of the song, to me it is about her losing the guys he loves for several reasons. I'm guessing the timing wasn't right, maybe they were too young or whatever and she lost him.
She says:

This is completely random i know but it makes me think of the fact that when you like someone you're pupils dialate and with brown eyes you can't really tell, i know it's far off and random.
