I'm not sure whether this is right, but I've been listening to this lovely quirky song by Can for many years and I always thought the first 5 lines were :
Saw a sign, said "Don't Stop"
Kept on up, to the top
Reached the summit, looked around
Heartbeat was the only sound
The land that flowed with milk and honey
All these years I found these words made better sense of the first part of the song.
Like I said I'm not sure what the original songwriter had in mind.
