No where near the best DBT song but I love almost everything they do.
I read an interview with Patterson, and he said Mercy Buckets is redneck for "Merci Boucoup". His sister used to use to always say mercy buckets to him as joke. As far as the song goes, its a pretty clever way to use an inside joke, and I think it refers to that person you have in your life that you can count on no matter what.
