In one interview with them, Dawn (the lead singer) said that it wasn't about deciding between God and something so much as it was just deciding who God is to you... Because so many christian bands force the "follow MY God" message down your throat, they wanted all people to be able to connect with the song, regardless of whether they believe exactly what the band believes or not, because ultimately it's entirely up to the individual. =]
