That we all knew (because Hole was on MTV because Courtney was with Kurt)
She would always crash the party (party as in when scott and kurt were doing heroin)
It was no surprise (they both knew of there drug dependency because they were best friends)
It was for her (she was not aware, she always thought they did it for a good time)
Too Cool Queenie (she was too cool to join the "party")
There was this boy (kurt cobain)
He played in a rock-n-roll band (nirvana)
And he wasn't half-bad,
At saving the world (Nirvana changed the way people listened to music, grundge became cool)
She said he could do no right (courtney used to tell kurt that he would never get anywhere cause he was an abuser)
So he took his life (his suicide)
His story is true (this is obviously about kurt cause its the only time he uses the word he, usually its him)
It's ok cause what goes around, comes around (75% of people(or anyone who knew the true nirvana story) hate/blame courtney for kurt's suicide)

I have also listened to STP's for a long time (mid 90's)
I like this song and completely independently came up with the Kurt/Courtney meaning.
I can't imagine it being about much else since each line seems to fit right.
Maybe Scott doesn't like to talk about the meaning so it's controversial?

@diegopardon My guess is that the "Queenie" part of the title may also be an homage (musically not lyrically) to the band Queen. On the line "Too Cool Queenie" a flanger effect is used which Queen liked to used on they're songs. I have no ideas though, just an observation.
