Lyric discussion by Stormy2

There's no way I'm working for The one who could have you There's no way I'm working for The one who could have you

the chorus is definitely my favorite part of this song. not only for it's sound, but for it's lyrics. To me, the narrator has memories of maybe a past relationship that could have been something great and still thinks of that person. he's stuck in a world of fakes and drama queens and maybe the one person who made sense to him, or who was different from all the rest, ended up being an abusive relationship, not violent just aggressive.

what a beautiful song.

This one is a heart breaker. I think its got something for anyone who still dwells one of their more recent failed relationships.

One of the things I love most about these lyrics is that unspoken understanding they embody between two people. I'm sure this song in effect, wrote itself. Roy draws in a passage of time that you can feel in his lyrics. It gives this simple song so much depth. And I think the dependent nature of photographs and on the seasons really gives a person (or in effect, the couple) the feeling of being at mercy of the inevitable.

Its funny how well it works. That fading photographs that could support the burden of a relationship.. Its as tangible in the song as the 'love' between two people that you may have once felt leave your own failed relationship.

This song is special to me- I've certainly got healing to do of my own.(blatantly obvious?) But I believe this song is more than a sad retrospection. It signifies a coming to terms with life and love. Something we all get along to doing as we go on. These lyrics kind of capture the beauty of the ebb and flow of emotion and attachment.

this song reminds me a lot of a quote said in the movie paris, je t'aime it says: There are times when life calls out for a change. A transition. Like the seasons. Our spring was wonderful, but summer is over now and we missed out on autumn. And now all of a sudden, it's cold, so cold that everything is freezing over. Our love fell asleep, and the snow took it by surprise. But if you fall asleep in the snow, you don't feel death coming. Take care
