The chorus combined with the lines 'close your eyes and sleep / fast to the end' make me think of suicide using a car exhaust to cause carbon monoxide asphyxiation. I know some other Thursday songs are about suicide.. but then again, other lines use images associated with aeroplanes rather than cars, so I could be way off.
