When I first heard this song, I thought it might be about marijuana in the same way that Mi Amigo is about alcohol. Just based on the way Caleb sings the first line like "Mary if ya wanna" makes it sound like he's saying that. Waiving his right could be like, giving up what he wants to and just going with the feeling of the drug. Standing on the corner passing time sounds like pretty much every reefer head I know. And I guess when you're high, you don't discriminate who you dance with at the club, so you might accidentally boogie with your best guy friend. And by saying he won't ever make "Mary" cry, he's saying, "I'll never give up smoking!"
That whole concept makes the song make sense to me, but I don't know if the guys in the band smoke that much. It would be a funny/awesome secondary meaning.
It also goes with the psychedelic/Beatles-ish style the song has.
