This song is amazing. Gary Jules amazes me with the fact he can take such a serious song and make it to such a happy tune.
To me this song is about how he wants to kill himself because of this woman who has made his life crazy. He's sick of where he is and wants to leave, but feels like it won't make a difference. I also think that he doesn't have the courage to leave. He's medicated and he's trying to trick himself into believing that the pills will solve all his problems, but in face they make them worse.
"I've got all I need: spirit, hope and joe, but no one knows me" is probably my favorite line. I'm not sure if it's suppose to be joy instead of joe, but I like joe better because I'm an avid coffee drinking and spitit, hope, and joe are the three things that keep me going sometimes. I also understand having the medication make you think that you're all alone when you're really not.
