I think this song is about Michale or someone going through something really hard and depressing. This led him to "call you in thhe middle of the night." And apparently no one can understand exactly what he is going through, hence the lines "Tell me, are you feeling sicker inside? Oh my! / Tell me all about it, at least just lie! / Don't you wanna die? Oh my!" He is desperate for someone to understand what he is feeling. He is at a point where he wants them to say that they know what he is feeling, even if they lie to him. It's kind of like creating a false reality for himself, so that he will feel better about whatever he is going through. Depression is a good example of what someone might be going through in this song.
