i don´t think it´s a real love song, more about the missing of a fetisch or a drug, which could be a lover... (the harder it get´s, when i am alone = when i don´t have you...)
the line: "the simpler the question, the harder it can get" is a nice phrase, but i don´t see how it really fits into the rest of the song.
