I think this song is about the Apocalypse/the Book of Revelations.
The first verse is talking about meadows bursting into flames and also mentions 'a brotherly betrayal', possibly referring to hell consuming our planet because of sinners who once were our fellow man?
The second verse (though I'm unsure about this one) is from the perspective of the narrator watching down on this chaos from above.
The first line of the third verse is clearly referring to sinners finally realising the errors of their ways during the the first night of reckoning, although it is too late. The saved helplessly watch on as the sinners are condemned to hell ('we watch you slowly die').
The final verse is all about salvation! A reassurance to other Christians not to fear, for they will be accepted into heaven. There's sunlit days ahead!
whoa i thought it was about having feelings for your best friends dead brother... your interpretation makes much more sense. you know your stuff brisvegaboy!

brisvegasboy, your interpretations are so deep, but they seem to be a bit too far-fetched to be anything more than personal. i still don't think this song is about god.
