I wonder if this song has roots in the ongoing conflict in Ivory Coast? San Pedro is one of the cities there and the conflict has been going on for at least 10 years. In any case, it's a beautiful song.

I think it does have to do with conflict. I'm not sure about the meaning of the song, but "we draw lines in the sand," I think is telling. That boundaries between countries are constantly shifting and human-made and can be washed away easily.
