Furtado Fan37 is right in the fact that the song is about holding onto something because NOTHING lasts forever (you all know that's true) but it can be regained somehow and if you learn from that expirence you will hold onto it.
All who say this is a basic and non well written song are misguided. This song can be taken multiple (I am aware of how this contradicts what I have said about the meaning of the song) ways and is written superbly. The connontation is serious but playful suggesting that this song is written from expirence and thus could be viewed differently through that light.
