I've been a Ben Harper fan for a little over two years and have heard this song several times before. It was this w/e while riding the trails at Alafia State Park, FL that I made a connection to it.
"I would rather take your punch than not give you a shot. I would rather find out who you are than who you're not. Shoulda known better to mistake business for love."
To me he's saying that I need to take the risk of opening up to people even though there is a chance they'll let me down/hurt me. I can't let that possibility take the spirit and power to love (The Fight) out of me.
